As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Ng is highly qualified to help those suffering from all types of retinal issues and complicated ocular problems. The retina is the delicate nerve tissue that lines the inside of the eye wall and converts incoming light into a visual signal. It can be damaged significantly in a variety of diseases, sometimes resulting in severe vision loss. Retina specialists work to repair these problems and to restore sight.

To become an ophthalmologist, Dr. Ng not only completed medical school, he went on to complete a residency and fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and a research fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. He has further pursued a study and treatment of pediatric eye problems at Children’s Retina Institute in Los Angeles, California.

Accurate diagnosis of the cause of an eye problem is an essential starting point. Because of his extensive background of study and research, Dr. Ng welcomes the most challenging and complex cases, including children with retinal problems.

Services include the treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, ocular inflammation (uveitis), glaucoma, and other disorders, including complex or hard-to-diagnose problems. Treatments may include the use of medications or surgery. Dr. Ng is involved in the development of new treatments for the eye and therefore stays fully up to date with the most effective medications and treatments available.

Dr. Ng and his team of physicians and staff are pleased to offer his patients this state-of-the-art retina care at his offices located on O’ahu and Big Island. He currently performs surgeries at Pali Momi Medical Center, Queens Medical Center, and Kapoilani Medical Center for Women and Children.,
